Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe? A.I. is all the buzz right now. Emotions are running high about whether we should be fearful toward this fairly new technology or if we should embrace it? Congress wants to regulate it, but isn’t sure what to regulate and asks the question, “Will other countries follow suit?” I’m guessing, “probably not.”
I think the jury is out right now about its dangers, but time will tell, as this new technology eventually falls into the hands of various good and bad actors. For now, I think we can learn to use it in productive ways and from what I see, it will disrupt various industries and some people will lose their jobs. And other A.I. jobs will open up. Again, let’s wait and see.
The only other thing that concerns me is the eventual value of my website … and yours. For years us geeks have been using Google’s search engine to find accurate information. And it’s been successful in taking us to websites like mine and yours for knowledge, research, and entertainment. I believe Generative A.I. will change that to some degree. Instead of running to Google’s search bar, people will go right to ChatGPT to get their information, and it’s pretty good information! I predict there will be less endless searching through vague websites for research or knowledge. Will websites become obsolete? I wonder!
Like yourself, I too am learning how to productively use Generative A.I. for various tasks that help me write quicker, better, and more intelligently. I’ve taken a couple of classes in generative A.I. for writing and creating in both fiction and non-fiction. I’m impressed with what I see, although its content still needs to be properly edited and fact checked. I find that ChatGPT is easy to use, but the more difficult part is formulating the “prompts” called “Prompt Engineering” to ultimately squeeze the best info out of the Bot.
I’ve been practicing with ChatGPT for a while now. I’ll share an example. A friend invited me to write a review for her essay, to be included in a book of similar material. I offered to help out but due to time constraints, I had to rush through it. I wasn’t excited about what I wrote, but felt it would be fine. Out of curiosity I created what I thought of as a pretty substantial prompt and asked ChatGPT to write my review. It was darn good ... accurate and more thoughtfully worded than my attempt.
So I sent my friend both reviews, explaining my reasons for doing so. She liked both reviews and I suggested that she pick and choose the most complimentary words for her inspired essay. After all, the words I fed into the prompt were of my own making so I felt I (A.I. and I) could take credit for the review. So, at this point, ChatGPT is my friend, not my foe, and between the two of us we are making the point that “two heads are better than one!” Linda Chappo, Chief Excitement Officer

Write That Book, Share Your Journey, & Become a Thought Leader! by CEO, Linda L. Chappo
Remember that the book you dream of writing is a "tool" to help you and your business get more exposure, put you on the map as a thought leader, and as a way of helping your field or industry to shine brighter.
As a freelance writer and author of numerous print and ebooks, I have a lot to say about the major task of getting the book (inside you) out into the stratosphere. Sometimes it goes easy and other times (like I say to my women friends) it’s like giving birth to a porcupine! It really can be that painful. But if you follow a few simple rules, it goes much easier. Writing a book about your entrepreneurial experience can be an exciting and rewarding project. I have several such projects, one that is almost ready to go to press. It’s called, “Learn Your Life Purpose: Happiness Now for the Miracle-Minded.” Statistics say that over 60% of people who go to college for their passion do not continue to work in their passion or chosen field. My course and book, both part memoir and part metaphysical training, points out why and how one can cut right to the chase to learn of their Divine purpose on Earth. I did it and so can you! This book and online course (Mastermind.com) are expected to be available this fall, 2023! Here are some strategies to help you successfully plan and execute your long-awaited book-writing endeavor:
Define Your Purpose and Audience: Clarify the purpose of your book. Is it to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs, share practical advice, or document your personal journey? Identify your target audience, such as early-stage entrepreneurs, small business owners, or individuals interested in your particular industry. Understanding your purpose and audience will guide your writing style, content, and overall approach. Stay abreast of innovations in your field and report on them.
Outline Your Book: After many years as a cosmetologist I knew my field so well that it was easy to create a detailed outline that served as a roadmap for my book. Outline the main chapters, key themes, and topics you want to cover. Organize your content logically and consider using subheadings, bullet points, or anecdotes to enhance readability. An outline helps maintain focus and ensures a cohesive flow throughout the book. I also researched other books on my topic to fill in themes that I initially overlooked.
Storytelling and Authenticity: Infuse your book with personal stories, anecdotes, and examples from your entrepreneurial journey. Authenticity and relatability will engage readers and make your experiences more impactful. Blend storytelling techniques with practical insights to strike a balance between inspiration and actionable advice. Personal stories are a powerful way to show the pro’s and con’s of your field or industry. No one can know the in’s and out’s like you!
Research and Expertise: There was no internet or online research when I wrote my first book. All that has changed and good research is at your fingertips. Enhance your book with relevant research, industry statistics, and expert insights. Incorporate data and market trends to back up your claims and provide a broader context. This demonstrates your expertise and adds credibility to your writing.
Create a Writing Routine: Establish a writing routine that works for you. Set aside dedicated time for writing and create a conducive environment that minimizes distractions. Consistency is key, even if it means committing to writing a certain number of words or pages each day or week. Consider using writing tools or software to help you stay organized and focused. I use Word to write my content, but there are many other platforms to use. Discover the best one for you. You can also hire a ghostwriter to help you out and a graphic designer to design your book cover.
Seek Feedback and Editing: Once you've completed your initial draft, seek feedback from trusted individuals such as fellow entrepreneurs, editors, or beta readers. They can provide valuable insights, spot areas that need improvement, and offer suggestions for enhancing your book's impact. Consider hiring a professional editor to ensure your book is polished and ready for publication. Whether I’m writing non-fiction or fiction, I seek out friends or beta readers to take a look at my work.
Publishing Options: Explore different publishing options, such as traditional publishing, self-publishing, or hybrid publishing. Research the pros and cons of each approach, including the level of control, royalties, marketing support, and distribution. Consider engaging a literary agent or publishing consultant to help you navigate the publishing landscape. Unless you have a large platform of readers or are a celebrity, traditional publishing and literary agents can be a pipedream. I have a lot to say on this, but will save it for another article. Years ago I was told that "publishers are printers." That's pretty much what they are for the average writer. You'll do your own marketing ... and good luck on that!
Develop a Marketing Plan: Plan your book's marketing and promotion strategy in advance. My marketing book and ebook: "Growth Hacking for Beginners" is a perfect place to learn marketing. Don’t miss this amazing reference of marketing ideas for both internet and brick and mortar stores. Identify your target audience and determine the most effective channels to reach them, such as social media, industry events, or speaking engagements. Build anticipation by creating a website or landing page for your book, utilizing email marketing, and leveraging your existing network.
Professional Design and Formatting: Invest in professional book cover design and formatting to ensure your book has an appealing and polished appearance. The cover is often the first impression readers have, so make it visually appealing and reflective of your book's content and genre. There are many places to get a professional book cover: Fiverr.com, Reedsy, Upwork, Amazon etc. You can also create your own with Canva.
Launch and Beyond: Plan a launch strategy to create buzz around your book. Consider hosting a launch event, securing media coverage, or collaborating with influencers in your industry. Leverage social media and online platforms to engage with readers, collect reviews, and create a community around your book.
Remember, writing a book takes time and dedication. Be patient with the process, stay true to your voice, and enjoy the journey of sharing your entrepreneurial experience with the world. You may just have the right experience and knowledge that could change your industry, help people to find better solutions, or more easily monetize your readers' business. Good luck on your writing journey! The best to you, Staff: BusinessAcademy.com
